Social Justice Colloquium set for March 15

Colonial history of the Philippines topic of annual event

This year’s Social Justice Colloquium at CSU Monterey Bay examines the colonial history of the Philippines.

Vicente Rafael, professor of history and Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Washington, will talk on “Amidst Three Empires: The Philippines Under Spain, the United States and Japan, 1565-1945.”

The talk will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., March 15, in the University Center.

The Social Justice Colloquium, now in its 20th year, is an annual event featuring activists and scholars discussing timely questions of social and environmental justice. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested and can be made by calling 582-3890. The University Center is located on Sixth Avenue at B Street. Please note that, while the event is free, a parking permit is required and may be purchased from a machine on the lot.
